Full Laboratory Service
Kleinmond Animal Clinic now has a full in house laboratory service run from our in house VET TEST 800 machine
We can now process blood samples in our clinic and get full blood chemistry results as well as full blood counts. We can run haematocrits and examine urine sediment and all the results are available within 15 to 20 minutes. Previously when we used outside labs we had to wait up to 48 hrs for results
We do still use the services of outside laboratories like PATHCARE but only for histopathology and certain microbiology and serology tests.

X-rays are taken to assess the internal body strucutres.
Usually the skeleton and bones are examined. In this baboon being x-rayed we were looking for a lead bullet which would show up clearly on the x-ray.
Exotic
This Burmese python was operated on under general anaesthesia.
The tip of the tail had to be amputated.
.
Birds

Orthopaedic Surgery
Leila is a Bull Terrier, that, after a fun day at the beach, had not such a fun night at home.
Leila broke the tibia in her left hind leg and had to have extensive orthopaedic surgery.
Today, Leila is as good as new and is spending her days at the beach again.
Pet Food & Supplies
To cater for the needs of the super active, the obese, the special needs and different stages of life, we have a wide range of food that is suitable for your pet. Please visit us to choose from our selection of premium and super premium foods and/or to discuss any dietery questions that you may have.
If we don't have it on the shelve, we will order it especially for you!
Microchip
Identipet, being the leading brand in microchip identification, was the natural choice for Kleinmond Animal Clinic. With 3 easy steps, your missing pet will be reunited with his family. The chip is injected into the loose skin between the shoulder blades. This process is quick and painless. To register your unique ID number/chip, a once off form has to be fully completed and returned to the database of Identipet. Any vet, SPCA, Animal Welfare and Animal Rescue Club will be able to retrieve your information with a quick scan, notifying you that your pet is safe and ready for collection.
Cleaning teeth
This is no smiling issue as 80% of dogs and 70% of cats suffer from dental disease. Problems usually start with the build up of plaque that hardens and turns into tartar. Gingivitis is a disease caused by tartar and can have serious health issues for your pet. This includes painful, inflamed gums with bleeding, bad breath, loose teeth and dribbling. Some factors that can contribute to dental problems: Age, breed and food.. A once a year visit to Kleinmond Animal Clinic will prevent this from happening to your pet and keep them smiling from ear to ear.
